The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye Primer

My lovely friend Justin sent me some The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye Primer ($15) many months ago before it even released at The Body Shop so I was surprised when I came across it recently online for sale finally!

Yay! Good news as I can review it now!

So yeah, this is over marketed to death as it promises to conceal dark circles as well as preps for concealer and you can even use as an eyeshadow primer of sorts.

Hmmm!

Let’s take a peek!

First oft this is a little pricey at $15 for a 0.3 oz tube! But hey, sometimes you just gotta give into beauty ya know?

I actually use Clarins Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate or just the regular Clarins Instant Smooth face primer under my eyes prior to concealer application. The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye Primer is the same general idea as both those formulas. This isn’t a moisturizing product by any means so don’t expect it to prep for concealer in a way that it adds moisture under drier eyes. This is ALL silicone so it fills finer liners and allows for concealer to have something to lay on top for giving the impression of smoother eyes versus finely lined ones where concealer is caking into those fine lines.

Ok, things it won’t do, conceal dark circles! This kinda reminds me of Sana Make Essence Concealer as they are both the same bright shade of yellow (the textures are majorly different though). I think the yellow can diffuse some of the appearance of darkness and for me I don’t have major darkness under my eyes so it does make my eyes look slightly more awake but it won’t ever replace my need for concealer. The formula is more an add on to your concealer but not so much a wear alone without concealer product. You can get away with wearing it without concealer mind you when you going for just a natural look and want to fill up and blur pesky finer lines….! But if you have dark circles this isn’t going to help them very much!

The texture is very odd when you squeeze it out as it’s quite dry! It looks like primer you left uncapped, uncovered, or out for too long. It pills like crazy! It’s very dry as you blend pills as you spread it. You have to be gentle with it.

Honestly, if they improved the texture they’d have a gem of a product on there hands but the way it applies now can prove irritating! If you have the time, patience, and love to put into application I have to say it does a fine job filling finer lines and giving the appearance of a smoother under eye area. It also allows concealer to have a smoother surface to apply. I would not recommend it for using on your lids though as it’s a bit too difficult to spread around and will likely prove messy applied to this area. I wouldn’t say it extended the wear of my concealer but it did make my concealer looks smoother. If you have finer lines it definitely does a nice job of blurring their appearance and filling them up.

It’s not game changing and the Body Shop can improve on the formula a whole lot but I kinda dig The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Eye Primer. As someone who has finer lines I’ll take whatever I can get to blur their appearance and just hide them away and this is on step that does help a little in that direction!
